Ph.D. defense - passed
August 17, 2007On July 20th, 2007, I conditionally passed my Ph.D. defense. 5 difficult years have finally borne the fruit that I had hoped they would. I am finally done.
The reason I'm late in posting this is because the exam itself was a nightmare. I mean, a nightmare. I was blown to smitherines. I held my own for the first 30 or so minutes, but then it went spiralling down.
After the malestorm, the good news was that the biggest thing that was required of me before I officially "passed" was to fix, adapt or add 6 items to my dissertation. I've been feverishly working through them and am now proud to report, there are only 3 left. My goal is to finish all 3 tonight.
At the end of my defense, all 3 of my committee members (besides my chair) signed off on my dissertation. So, now it's between my chair and I, and he has really been helping me out. The goal now is to meet with him next week and get his signature and end this madness. I simply can't wait.
