Kicking ass and takin' names

January 28, 2006

Well, let's see. What's happened that's new that's worth blogging about. Well, a few things for that matter.

  • I passed my Ph.D. Qualifying Exam.
  • I passed my Ph.D. Qualifying Exam.
  • I PASSED MY PHD QUALIFYING EXAM!!!!

Yeah yeah! Major ups to everyone who supported me during this hard time. As you can see below, I've already updated my USC webpage :-)

Other than that, what else has been going on. Well, Lisa and I bought a 2006 PT Cruiser in celebration of me passing my exam. What a cool deal. So, I've been cruisin around lately in it, and I absolutely love it. Consumer Reports has rated it very highly and I would recommend the car to anyone that I know who's thinking of buying a new car. Reasonably priced, extremely stylish, and reliable. Now that's what the doctor ordered.

So in the erstwhile, I've been trying to find a buyer for my 1994 Mazda Miata. Someone is coming over to look at it today, and I'm crossing my fingers we'll be able to get the damn thing out of my driveway. I mean, it was a great car for the past 3 years, but I honestly am sick of having to park the PT Cruiser in the middle of my driveway.

Let's see what else. Oh yeah, there was that little thing about buying an Apple iMac G5 2.3 Ghz, with iSight cam built in. Apple has really fucking made an awesome product line over the past 5 years, starting with the G4, and the adoption of UNIX as the core behind the OS. There is just something so cool about openining up a native terminal via the windowing system and then hacking away at code, while navigating such a beautiful user interface browsing the web and listening to music. So, as you can tell I'm really really happy right now :-)

Hopefully everyone out there is doing okay. Drop me a line those of you out there who may happen to read this. I'd love to hear from all the old friends to see how they're doing.
